The 30-day course
One client and one situation a day, about 10 minutes: hear how she says it, say your reply out loud, then take one line to the chair.
Quick Help cards
26 situation cards and a visual board you can turn toward the client. Add it to your home screen and find the line in 3 seconds.
Listening trainer
8 stages, 40 clips, from slow English to slang and hard-to-follow clients.
What it won’t do
- It won’t teach you grammar or make you fluent. It teaches the English of the chair, and only that.
- The translator isn’t banned. Safety first — we just want you to need it less every week.
- It doesn’t replace a real person. Some audio is computer voice; your salon’s own recordings replace it over time.
It’s free. Here’s why.
Quick Help, the listening trainer and all 30 days cost nothing. No trial period, no card. You need a free HAO Profile so your place in the course is kept.
HAO makes its living from the other tools we build for stylists. Salon English is how we get to be useful to you first.
Questions
Who is this for?
Stylists working in US salons whose first language is Chinese, Korean or Japanese, with beginner to lower-intermediate English (A1–B1). If you can greet a client but freeze at “just a trim”, this is for you.
Is it really all free?
Yes. Quick Help, the listening trainer and all 30 days are free. You only need a free HAO Profile, so your place in the course is kept under your account.
Do I need a class or a teacher?
No. Ten minutes a day on your phone, plus one task you say to a real client. The AI client roleplay runs in your own ChatGPT or Claude with the scripts we give you.
What if my English is better than A1?
Skip the first days and use the listening trainer’s later stages — vague clients, slang, clients who change their mind. The Quick Help cards still earn their place at your mirror.
Where do the English phrases come from?
From what US clients actually say — collected from stylist communities, interviews and salon education material. Phrases we could only infer are marked so, and salon recordings replace them over time.
Can the whole salon team use it?
Yes. Each stylist signs in with their own HAO Profile and keeps their own place in the course. There are no seats to buy.
Next time she says “just a trim”, you’ll know what to ask.
